Taifun got a victory as a result of a shootout series
On Friday, Taifun met with Kapitan in Stupino again, and this time Primorye team did not give up the victory.
The rivals exchanged goals midway through the opening frame. Leonid Zhdanovsky scored first, this goal was the debut for the player in the JHL. Ivan Fomin and Artyom Plaksin also earned the first points in this attack. But Kapitan responded quickly, the teams went to the intermission with a score of 1:1.
In the second period, Taifun had to play without their captain, Roman Trofimov, who got a penalty for the rest of the match. Primorye team was threatened with a five-minute penalty kill, but the opponent soon equalized the lineup by getting a penalty. The first half of the period was memorable for frequent violations of the rules, power play and small fisticuffs. As a result, the hockey players looked a little disoriented and rarely created dangerous opportunities. There were no goals scored in this twenty-minute period.
In the 47th minute of the match Andrey Meshcheryakov put the Kapitan ahead. But very soon Ivan Fomin found himself at the right moment at the opponent's goal and successfully completed the attack by Ilya Nechitailo. 2:2. Shootout turned the beam, where Ivan Fomin made the winning shot. For the seventeen-year-old forward this match can definitely become one of the most memorable.
Next Taifun will go to Kondopoga, where on September 9 and 10 will play against the team Hors-Karelia.
