Matches in Kondopoga. Preview
Taifun went to Kondopoga, where on September 9 and 10 they will play with the team Hors-Karelia. The games will start at 19:00 Moscow time, 02:00 Vladivostok time.
Opponent
Hors-Karelia is the successor of the team SKA-Karelia.
In the 2023/2024 season, SKA-Karelia finished the regular season in tenth place in the Silver Division of the Western Conference with 20 points.
On August 1, the Hors-Karelia team appointed Igor Velker as head coach. He took the place of Sergei Ichensky, who had been working as acting coach for six months. Velker is not new to the JHL. In the 2010/2011 season he was on the staff of the Russian Knights, and then worked in the League with the Slovakian team Tatranski vlci. In the 2023/2024 championship Velker was the head coach of the Hors team in the National Junior Hockey League.
Hors-Karelia replaced SKA-Karelia. It is logical that some of the players from that team became part of the new one. At the same time, there are not so many of them. Defender Savva Volovik, familiar to the Primorye audience, is one of them. He played for Taifun in the 2022/2023 season. Another player, Roman Fysyna, moved to Horse-Karelia after tryout in Minsk. In the first game of the season he made an assist, but the team lost to Amurskie Tigry with the score 1:4.
History of meetings
Taifun and SKA-Karelia have played 8 games. Taifun won 6 matches in regulation time, and the opponent has one victory in regulation time and one on a shootout series.
You’ll find live broadcast of the matches on the YouTube channel and the official website of the JHL.
