Feels like deja vu

On Tuesday, November 12, Taifun played a return match against Krasnaya Armiya. The teams met last Sunday. Then Taifun managed to come back from 0:3 in the third period and take one point as a result of the shootout series (4:5).
The result of the second game was absolutely identical, but scenario was completely different. The birthday boy Roman Strochkin started the match excellently, opening the scoring in the 18th minute. The forward converted a scoring opportunity after a magnificent pass from Andrei Florovsky during power play – 1:0. Before the intermission, Krasnaya Armiya didn’t miss a chance to use their many men advantage, equalizing the score – 1:1.
In the second period, players of Krasnaya Armiya were dominating the puck, and by the middle of the period they had a two-goal advantage – 1:3. Roman Strochkin did not want to ruin his birthday party and by the end of the period he gave his fans another goal – 2:3.
The third period was a thriller again. As the period progressed, the plot twists were sharper and sharper. Taifun was unable to take advantage of a five-on-three game, and then even conceded a goal – 2:4. Artyom Plaksin and Andrei Florovsky brought the intrigue back into the game. Plaksin took the puck from his opponent and in a fall made a pass to Florovsky. He made a spectacular throw from his knee – 3:4. Nuriyev’s team showed their strong character, and a minute and a half before the final siren, the Primorye team managed to tie the score in a six-on-five format with an empty net. Ivan Fomin scored a goal during a fight near the opponent’s net – 4:4.
The teams couldn’t finish the game during extra five minutes. In the shootout series, Krasnaya Armiya was luckier and more skillful.
The result of the match was 4:5 SO.
Taifun will play their next match on November 16, hosting JHC Dynamo Saint Petersburg. The game will start at 17:00, admission is free.
