Victorious tide

On February 4, Typhoon began its ten-game away series with a match against the junior hockey team Dynamo Saint Petersburg.

The opponents had already met in mid-November in Vladivostok, where Typhoon lost without scoring, missing five goals in the final period.

The game in Saint Petersburg was tense from the very beginning, the opponents acted aggressively. Both teams were determined to fight – it could be seen with the naked eye. It was only the fifth minute when the referees gave both teams a penalty for roughing. The game was special for Nikita Kryukov (he was penalized), because he played against his former team. In fact, the forward's fundamental attitude significantly affected the game: Kryukov was one of the most noticeable players in the game, he had several great chances to score and finally made an assist.

Typhoon opened the scoring during power play in the middle of the first period. Stepan Levitsky hit a one-timer assisted by Roman Strochkin – 0:1. Typhoon played the first period defiantly and assertively, letting the home team know that they intend to fight for the victory until the end. At the end of the opening twenty minutes, Primorye team had a slight advantage, but generally the game was equal, which was reflected in the scoreboard. Twenty seconds before the break Dynamo equalized the score – 1:1.

In the second period, Typhoon had to stand firm in order to restrain the onslaught of the home team. Gradually the game leveled out again. Both teams played once on the power play, but there were no new goals.

The next puck hit the net in the 55th minute: Dynamo players took the lead. A minute and a half before the final siren, Typhoon head coach Ilgiz Nuriev called a timeout and replaced the goalie with an extra field player. The risk was justified! Stepan Levitsky scored a double and turned the game into overtime – 2:2.

In the extra five minutes, Leonid Zhdanovsky secured the Primorye team's success. The forward scored the winning goal in his first match after recovering from injury. Ivan Fomin gave an outstanding pass to Zhdanovsky.

Result – 2:3 OT. This victory is the fourth in the last five games for Typhoon.

The next game will be played against SKA-1946 in Saint Petersburg. The teams will meet on Friday, February 7 4:00 p.m. GMT.
