Playing in a downward
On February 7, Typhoon played their second away game in Saint Petersburg. The first match was against the Dynamo SPb youth team, in which the Primorye team won 3:2 OT. Ilgiz Nuriev's next game was against the reigning JHL champion – SKA 1946.
The Army team confirmed from the very first minute that they were the favorite of the battle. But it cannot be said that the Typhoon players remained in the shadows: they tried to catch the opponent on the counterattack and had some dangerous moments occasionally. However, the home team gradually gained more and more initiative, and as a result, they totally seized the advantage.
Expectedly, Typhoon goalkeeper Alexei Noskov became a key figure this evening. His name was mentioned in the broadcast more often than other players’ names: every time he saved the team from inevitable goals. Unfortunately, he is not all-powerful either: he managed to keep his net intact until the 13th minute of the game. The teams went into the break with a minimal advantage of the hosts (1:0).
Later it became increasingly difficult to hold the opponent off. In the second period Typhoon missed two goals, and in the third period the number of individual mistakes increased, which led to three more unanswered goals.
Result – 0:6 defeat
Typhoon will play the next two games in Moscow against Red Army. The teams will play on February 12 and 13. The games start at 7:00 a.m. GMT.
