No score draw
On March 17, Typhoon played a tense game against Captains of Stupino. The game ended with no goals scored in regulation and extra time. The fate of the game was decided only by shootout, where the fortune smiled on the guests.
The first period was evenly matched, although Typhoon looked a little more active on offense. The most notable player was Artyom Plaksin, who twice threatened Captains’ net. As a whole, the home team created more scoring opportunities, but the guests' defense was great. Captains’ defensemen hit a lot of shots on goal, while their forwards could not disturb Typhoon goalie for a long time. Demyan Yermak created the most dangerous moment (perhaps even for the whole game). There was a two-on-one break, but Captains goalie saved his team.
In the second period, the course of the game was dictated by Captains. The visitors outshot Typhoon, won more faceoffs and controlled more area. Stupino team had some good attacks, but Typhoon defense led by Noskov coped with the onslaught.
The home team responded with rare but dangerous moments. Roman Strochkin's roundhouse shot was noticeable, and in one of the episodes Captains were saved by the goalpost from Ivashinnikov's shot.
In the third period and overtime, the opponents played cautiously, without taking risks. Both teams had their moments, but the goalies played perfect. Typhoon had a chance to end the game in overtime, but didn’t manage to beat Captains goalie.
In shootout, the success was on the side of the guests. They were able to capitalize on two attempts, while Typhoon was unable to hit the opponent's net.
Result – 0:1 SO.
The teams will play again tomorrow, March 18. The game starts at 9:00 a.m. GMT.
