A small sensation

On February 17, Typhoon played a new game against Dynamo-Shinnik in Bobruisk, and this time Primorye team was able to turn the tide after the previous day's defeat (1:4). The game was incredibly tense and dramatic.

Captain Vasily Pets, who missed the last game, returned to Typhoon lineup. Demyan Yermak took the place of Pavel Gavrilko, and the net was defended by Ruslan Kakenov, who replaced Alexei Noskov.

The starting period passed with a slight advantage for the home team. The most dangerous moments were at the end of the period: Kryukov and Yermak had great chances to open the scoring, but didn’t manage to outplay Dynamo goalie. In the 17th minute, Dynamo-Shinnik took the lead, and a minute and a half before scored a double. The teams went into the break with the score 2:0.

The second period, largely thanks to Ruslan Kakenov’s performance, was positive for Typhoon. The goalie deflected 11 shots, preventing the hosts from increasing the gap, and his teammates managed to score one goal. In the middle of the game, forward Nikita Kryukov went through the whole opponent's zone, got close to the goalie and hit the puck under the crossbar – 2:1.

In the third period, the key factor for Typhoon was composure. The opponents played this period on equal terms in all respects. The game overturned at the end: a minute and a half before the final buzzer, Dynamo-Shinnik broke the rules. Typhoon took a timeout and went to the face-off six-on-four, pulling the goalie. The risk was justified! Primorye team was able to capitalize on the power play and let the game continue in overtime. Roman Strochkin drew level after Levitsky and Chebykin assists – 2:2.

The extra five minutes became a real challenge for Typhoon. The guests' first penalty came at the worst possible moment. Artyom Plaksin violated the rules at the start of overtime, and right after the face-off two and a half Primorye players were left on the ice, as Stepan Levitsky was left without a stick. Ruslan Kakenov saved the team at the right moments again. Typhoon managed to hold out, and the outcome of the game was decided by shootout, which was no less interesting. The opponents took eight shots each, there was a video review of the shot into Kakenov’s net, and in the end the decisive shot was performed by Artyom Plaksin.

Result – 2:3 SO. Typhoon defeated Dynamo-Shinnik for the first time in JHL history.

The away series of Primorye team does not end there. On February 20 and 21, Typhoon will play in Moscow against Soviet Wings. Both games start at 4 p.m. GMT.
