The leaders of the East
The Sailors finish their home stand with a matchup against the leaders of the East, who qualified for the playoffs a month and a half before the end of the regular season – Chelyabinsk's Traktor.
Traktor ranks first in the East with 76 points. Ak Bars is catching them up, having 72 points and three games in reserve.
Since the championship resumed, Chelyabinsk team has played only one game. On February 12, they lost to Metallurg 1:3 on their own ice. Admirals continue to fight with Sibir for the seventh place of the standings. Both teams have 58 points, but Sibir has more victories in regulation time. The next wins of Admirals and Sibir will deprive Amur of a mathematical chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Leaders
Admirals forward Stepan Starkov has scored points in four straight games (2+4). For Shane Prince, the next goal is the 200th in his KHL career. Daniil Gutik, the Sailors’ top scorer, is close to 44 points in a season, this record was set by Niklas Bergfors 10 years ago. Daniil scored three points in his last game and now has 43 points on his account.
Chelyabinsk forward Maxim Shabanov is one of the top five scorers and playmakers in the regular season (18+34 in 56 games). Grigory Dronov is among the top-5 snipers-defensemen (11 goals in 51 games). Goaltender Zach Fucale is the leader for the number of shutouts (8 of 40 games played).
Activities
Gagarin Cup – the legendary trophy of the league – is going on tour to Far East, starting in Primorye Territory. On February 15, the Cup will be presented in Fetisov Arena: the doors will open to visitors earlier than usual – at 14:30 local time.
Upcoming match
The game will be the 32nd for the teams in KHL history. Admirals has 11 victories. In the current championship, the Sailors won one of the three games and earned a point in another one, losing in overtime. Broadcast of the fourth battle on TV channels OTV-Prim, KHL Prime and Kinopoisk service.
