Horror in Chelyabinsk

Admirals and Traktor played the fifth game of Gagarin Cup playoffs’ first round. The game took place in Chelyabinsk.

The Sailors actively and confidently started the first period. Vyacheslav Osnovin opened the scoring already in the sixth minute. Osnovin, who was raised in Traktor, intercepted Kampfer’s puck in the middle zone, rushed to the net and left no chance for Zach Fucale – 0:1. Remarkably, he did it while killing a penalty. Two minutes later, Daniil Gutik doubled the difference, hitting the opponents’ net from a negative angle – 0:2. At the end of the first twenty minutes, Vyacheslav Osnovin scored a double! The teams went into the break with the score 0:3.

In the second period, the overall course of the game didn't change. Admirals continued playing in cold blood, not allowing the opponent to do anything in their defense zone. Among other things, Pavel Shen scored the fourth goal in the middle of the game, making the advantage more than comfortable – 0:4.

However, even the fans of Traktor Arena couldn’t imagine what would happen in the third period. In the 48th minute, Admirals played short-handed, and Benoit Groulx pulled the goalie and sent the sixth field player to the end zone. Traktor didn't have to wait long for the first goal: Grigory Dronov found his moment and hit Mishurov's net from the blue line. A minute later, a curious puck crossed the goal line – Andrei Svetlakov sent a lift puck into Admirals’ net – 2:4. After that, Libor Sulak got a double penalty, and Maxim Shabanov capitalized on the power play. And one minute before the end of regulation time Steven Kampfer drew level.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the Sailors who scored in overtime – Semyon Der-Arguchintsev put a point in the game. Result – 5:4 OT.
